Dr. Tracy Hjelmstad is a physician and surgeon for foot and ankle disorders. Originally from Minot, North Dakota, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Dr. Hjelmstad went to medical school at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Choosing to be closer to home, he completed his residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After his residency, he accepted an offer to return to his hometown to work for Trinity Medical Group. After 9 years in North Dakota, Dr. Hjelmstad and his family decided to open Advanced Podiatry in Edmond, Oklahoma. He and his wife have 3 children and live in Edmond.
Advanced Podiatry located at 15318 North May Avenue, just north of 150th Street, on May Avenue northwest of Quail Springs Mall. Dr. Hjelmstad specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, including foot and ankle trauma, Achilles tendon ruptures, ankle instability, ankle arthroscopic surgery, and degenerative arthritis of the foot and ankle. Dr. Hjelmstad also has completed special training in pediatric flatfoot correction as well as bunion and hammertoe correction. Advanced Podiatry provides diabetic shoes, and accommodative and custom fabricated orthotics for patients. Dr. Hjelmstad uses the new state-of-the-art Hyperblue laser for treatment of skin lesions and fungal toenails. Despite an extensive surgical background, Dr. Hjelmstad applies a conservative approach and prides himself on being able to treat a large portion of his patients with conservative measures.
Dr. Hjelmstad is Mercy Hospital is Active Medical Staff at all Mercy Hospital facilities in the metro area, Guthrie, and Kingfisher, OK. Dr. Hjelmstad has recently been credentialed at Integris Baptist OKC, and Integris Edmond, and St. Anthony Health Systems. He is also active medical staff at Foundation Surgical Center in northwest Oklahoma City. Advanced Podiatry accepts most major insurance plans and is credentialed with the Oklahoma Physicians Association.
